Lagaan was directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, produced by Aamir Khan and Mansoor Khan, and written by Ashutosh Gowariker and Abbas Tyrewala. The film is set in the Victorian period of India's colonial British Raj. The film was shot in an ancient village near Bhuj, India. As a English literature students,i have to analyse the movie with the help of various literary theories, approaches and different perspectives.  # patriotism :~      in this film petriotism is there in "bhuvan" character but captain russell challanged to play cricket in order to 3 year not pay lagaan. But the other way we see that this challange not only for lagan but at bhuvan side he describe with the patriotism to play game and win ageins...

Online discussion :oneness of literature

NORTHROP FRY'S 's theory of ARCHETYPAL CRITICISM is based on the idea that whole of literature has oneness.  Literature is the most important part of our life. It is like a Tree. It has many branches but they all connected with each other and it has a same root.   So like this in literature it has many different subjects but all are connected with each other. Also it is like same skeleton with different body. So all has the same root and all are connected with each other. New literature takes few things from the past literature.   T. S. Eliot  T.S.Eliot said in his "Tradition and Individual Talent", that the best individual part of poet's work is the maximum influence, which is reflection of writers of past.He covers various topics, myths in his long poem "The Wasteland". This poem carried very deep meaning inside it. We find oneness of literature in T.S.Eliot's ''The Waste Land'' and Anton Chekhov's '...

The Birthday Party by Harold Pinter

Post view task: The Birthday Party by Harold Pinter...   As part of online thinking activity after the film screening of The Birthday Party (1968) directed by William Friedkin. Main subject of the movie is ‘Trivia’ ( opposite to great events) for the texture of the film, all trivial things or objects glorified here with such a deep meaning like talk between Petey and meg during reading of newspaper, cooking ,looking I the mirror etc. Cinematic language is very powerful here with Picturesque technique. Respected Sir, Here is my views on post viewing task. 1) Why are two scenes of Lulu omitted from the movie?  Ans. It’s not easy to give the reason that why Lulu’s scene omitted in movie but simply from the main concern of the play which revolve around the Stanley, so it doesn’t want to create any unnecessary scenes which divert the audience’s attention and what Lulu complaining about Nat Goldberg that is happen behind the scene. So we can’t be...

Interpretation Challenge: Breath: The Shortest Play by Samuel Beckett

Image
Here is my interpretation on the short Movie Breath by Samuel Beckett. Movie video by (Demean Hirst) At very first watch one may can't understand What's the movie tries to show or say..?but after going into deep & tries to look at with particular special concern then it may give us some slight lines to think something on it. Movie video take only few seconds & passes rapidly but in a very short time how it can suggests something that make us to think what actually there is that remains notable here. The play has many concepts.. Nothingness, Meaninglessness, Absurdity, and Existentialism In the starting we hear the sound of Breathe that is connected with life and the birth is symbol of light. Play moves on darkness to light and light to darkness that also has connection with life and death. In the play we saw some rubbish kind of garbage that is lying everywhere. That comes after light it shows that when we are in darkness we cannot see the a...
