1) Does the novel have social realism? If yes, illustrate. If no, what did you expect as social realism which is absent here.


 In the Novel , Human relations , love , sex , marriage and sociable characters all represent reality of society. Anxiety and reflection of rising Indian middle class , question about career , marriage , family conflicts and relationships aspirations and problem of young generation all represents social reality.  Shyam , Priyanka , Esha and their love , Radhika married , her mother-in-law , military uncle his love for grandsons all things presents social realism.

 2) What sort of effect of Globalization is found in on@tcc?

 There are so many scenes which shows the effects of globalization.  From the starting we find that it has a positive as well as negative effects on life.  If we see the names of character,  Shyam turns into Sam,  Varun turns into Victor and etc.  We find cultural homogenization of workers in call center, exploitation of employees,  language issues,  growing technology,  equality between Men and Women,  Rising anxieties in life.


3) Comment on Narrative structure of the novel. Compare with that of Life of Pi.
 One night@ call center is a frame story. It takes place when author on a train journey from Kanpur to Delhi. At that time he meets one beautiful girl. After some conversation she tells the story to the author. She also make a condition that he will write it. When author makes a story he puts shyam mehra as the narrator and protagonist. In story representation of God  to direct all the characters. So, it can be said that entire story is dream sequence of author like God or beautiful lady.
Yan Martel' s ' Life of Pi ' have same narrative like on@cc . Same beginning like story from the person who is also character in the story. First person narration in both the novel. Narration of God and experience with God of characters that all are similar narratives.



4) What is popular literature? Is on@tcc popular literature? Illustrate.

 Popular Literature not deals with abstract problem . It takes moral principles as the given accepting certain generalized ideas and values as it's base. It represents common - sense values , does not raise or answer abstract questions. They represent on the whole , an instinctive or traditional , rather than a highly reflective , philosophy of life. In the novel , love and break- ups of the  Priyanka and Shyam . Family issues , loss of morality character like Anuj , call of God for solution of problems , philosophy of life, suffering of  characters all makes it popular Literature.



5) What do you understand by self-help book. Is on@tcc self-help book? Illustrate
 Self help book is about moral lesson, solution of problems and also helpful for build personal philosophy. The meaning of Self-Help Book is to self improvement, Genre – non fictional book. Self –help books often focus on popular psychology such as romantic relationship, or aspects of the mind and human behavior. In On@tcc God’s call it shows the moral massage and it developed self confidence of characters.



6) Is this novel anti-America? Illustrate it in context of theme of nationalism.

 One Night @ the Call Center writer introduces a young India and their problems. This novel is show the Nationalism.

In the novel characters working in the call center and their bay’s name is “Western Appliances Strategic Group” or WASG. They deal with the customers of home appliances such as refrigerator, so deals with American customers. Vroom’s ideas are very anti American so he says that,

“Americans suck the life blood out of our country’s most productive generation”




7) How far can this novel be categorized as cyberpunk?



 Cyberpunk is a postmodern science fiction genre. Cyber Punk connected with science and technology. It features higher science, such as information technology and cybernetics, coupled with a degree of breakdown or radical change in the social order. Cyberpunk plots often center on a conflict among hackers, artificial intelligences, and Mega Corporation, The characters deals with cyber technology. Vroom hacks Bakshi's email and writes email to Esah on his behalf. The American's are terrorized with the help of bug in MS Office as virus attack on Internet . In the world of technology heroes are hiker like Shyam. Machine is controlling human beings. Bakshi controlling heroes and other high teach and law life. Character dealing with Bug, FM radio, Email, Internet (computer). So we can say it classify as Cyber punk novel.
